We cannot blame our kababayans if they have turned apathetic. They can do something right now, to change the present administration. But most of them believe that nothing concrete and better things will come out. They find it fruitless and a futile exercise to remove GMA, for they know that even if we change president everyday, corruption would still be around and the spread of poverty may become worst.

If it took Marcos 20 years to ruin our values will take 40 years to restore them. We are still 22 years since he left. What we need now is more patience and more vigilance. Real change won't happen overnight. Many people would want us to take action but these people cannot present better options and no potential good leaders have surfaced to lead us. We need a strong leader who can control other people who present themselves as the better alternative but lacking in substance.

The bigger and deeply rooted problems are in the minds, habits and attitudes of everybody. Every election, voters sell their votes. Will this illness vanish if we remove GMA today? We cannot ignore this problem for they are the ultimate reason why GMA remain in her position for so long. The voters who sold their votes were the ones who voted the congressmen who are protecting GMA everytime there is an impeachment case filed against her.

If we want GMA to go, let us have patience and make sure she does not replace herself with another kind of GMA in the 2010 election. The time is not too long to wait and I don't think we will lose more money to corruption during that period.

By the way, the charges of rampant corruption still remains unsubstantiated. Accusers, politicians and critics mouth are full of charges but no body can come up with good leads and substance. Until today, nobody can present evidence like a bank account where the money stolen are deposited. Nobody can present evidence of investment papers where the stolen money are plowed or invested. Can it not be that nobody can present evidence because there was really none to talk about?

Senator Cayetano accused FG of having a bank account in Germany with substantial amount of money presumably coming from corrupt transactions. However, when asked to prove his allegations and point it out in the bank in Germany, he could not prove his accusations. Hence, he was suspended by congress for his unsbstantiated accusations which was violation of house ethics. Nevertheless, by doing so, he popularized himself and was rewarded by being elected to the senate. He has been there for sometime now, yet his only achievement is sensenationalizing the ZTE scandal.

This is the reality today and if we don't guard ourselves and our minds, other people will exploit and use us for their ends without our knowing.

Yeah I agree, that is why am having a wild proposal ( getting a boo from Micah in another blog) for the statehood movement to be revived again. If we don't want to be run hell by Filipinos then I would think there is now a ground for us to be bullied again by the Americans who happens to interfere with our national affairs every now and then. In this globalized era and borderless technology it is a futile act to remain patriotic and nationalist when a nation is always divided. The problem of extreme poverty has not been solve, corruption remains and the best alternative solutions yet to be found.
